Short answer: yes to all three, and heat is the one that actually costs you money.
This is a genuinely under-covered question. Most creatine content online is written about powder, and powder behaves completely differently in storage. If you have bought gummies, the storage rules you have read almost certainly do not apply to you.
The one-paragraph version
Creatine monohydrate is stable as a dry powder almost indefinitely. In a gummy it is not. Moisture, heat and acidity convert creatine into creatinine — an inert compound that does nothing for you. Why gummies degrade and powder doesn't

Put the same molecule into a gummy and you have changed its environment completely:
- Water activity. A gummy is a hydrated gel. There is free water in permanent contact with the creatine.

Manufacturers who take this seriously respond in a few ways: dosing 15–25% overage at the mixing stage so the product still meets label at end of shelf life, running low-heat processes, holding tight pH control through the batch, curing the gummies for two to three weeks to bring water activity down before packaging, reducing sugar, or using encapsulated creatine ingredients designed to hold up in a gel matrix.
Do creatine gummies expire?
Yes, and the expiry date on the jar is doing more work than it does on a tub of powder.
With powder, an expiry date is close to a formality — properly stored monohydrate is still monohydrate years later. With gummies, the date is an actual potency estimate: the manufacturer's projection of how long the product stays above label claim under normal storage.
Two practical consequences:
- Don't stockpile gummies the way people stockpile powder. Buying a year's supply on sale is a false economy if a meaningful fraction converts to creatinine before you get to it.
